Frequently the term jewellery is associated with women. However, for centuries men have sported some form of jewellery- earrings, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, chains, amulets, rings and so on. In ancient times, jewellery worn by pharaohs and kings symbolised power and status. In the past, men’s jewellery was popular for various reasons. Mostly jewellery is worn for aesthetic reasons, yet men’s jewellery also served other purposes, such as describing their place in society, their social status in addition to their marital status.
